Imagine swimming in a sea with more plastic in it than fish.
Ocean plastic in numbers...
73% of UK beaches are littered with plastic.
83% of the world’s tap water - including here in the UK - is contaminated with plastic particles, affecting billions of people.
43% increase in the number of plastic bottles washing up on UK beaches between 2014 and 2015.
80% of mussels taken from British beaches contain micro-plastics, according to research by King’s College London.
11,000 tiny pieces of plastic could be ingested every year by seafood eaters, according to Scientists.
What are we doing at Angel?
Angel is committed to being environmentally-friendly, so we have switched energy providers to ensure that all our energy is 100% renewable.
Such a seemingly small change from coal to biomass will reduce our emissions by over 80%!
We also continue to recycle and encourage our team to get involved with the many different environmental initiatives we run throughout the year, including WWF's Earth Hour.
Our Fundraisers are really enjoying fundraising and engaging with WWF's Supporters about such a crucial environmental issue.
In fact they have used it as an opportunity to learn more about how they can make a small change to their own lifestyle and make a big difference to the environment in turn.
"I have ordered myself a WWF tote bag and I have promised myself that I'll avoid buying 5p plastic bags when I do my weekly shop, as I now know the harm plastics cause the environment" - Kath (Angel Fundraiser)
